Vinous – NR
The 2019 Richebourg Grand Cru has very expressive, almost "gushing" red fruit on the nose pastille-like with maraschino cherries and redcurrant jus. The oak needs to be better integrated and there is an unwanted, very odd yeasty note (others remarked it was not unlike beer). The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fresh and taut, and quite linear in style, with bitter cherry and chalky notes toward the finish. This is not a powerful Grand Cru, though I admire the tension. This bottle is the weak link in a very strong flight. Representative? I don’t think so. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
