Tasting Notes
Robert Parker – 92-94
"The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers has a precise bouquet, tightly wound at the moment with black cherry, boysenberry and cold stone aromas, much more backward than the Aux Thorey. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, tightly knit and focused, tensile with a precise, quite pointed, sorbet-fresh finish. There is something clockwork about this Murgers-every component synchronized the other."

50% new oak. 70-year-old vines. Never any whole bunch. Very dark and a little charry. Lovely freshness here and has power and a slight austerity but plenty of fruit. Very very dark and a bit sombre but there s freshness at the core. Withheld and dark fruited and savoury on the finish. Finesse but not much charm. (JH)
