Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes – 15.5

Shaded crimson. Intense nose and then rather brutal fruit. Drying tannins. Needs time. [13/10/2009]

Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018

Robert Parker – 87

Tasted blind at Farr’s 2002 Bordeaux tasting. This has a ripe, black cherry, liquorices tinged fruit on the nose that is slightly muffled, with sous-bois and cedar aromas developing. Could this be Figeac? Certainly some lovely Cabernet Franc showing on the masculine palate, foursquare, austere, a serious wine with tarry, cigar box, quite tannic finish. Assertive, but lacks a little charm. Tasted October 2009. [Neal Martin, 01/10/2009]

Vinous – 87-91

Good full ruby color. Blackberry, licorice and tar on the nose. Lush, pliant and sweetly floral, with delicate, insinuating black fruit and licorice flavors and good density. A delightful young wine with easygoing, ripe tannins and very good length. [Stephen Tanzer, 05/01/2003]
